I get this! I moved a lot in my pre parenthood life and nothing felt as big as our recent move with our 2 year old. We only moved around the corner in our same neighborhood but she had just become aware of the meaning of “home” which only made it feel bigger. I wrote about this move right as we were packing things up. Sharing the link below in case it feels relevant for you:

Beautiful piece Katie. So many feelings … I am yet to have this experience and like you my parents still live in the only house I ever lived in until aged 19. Perhaps that is why. I have told my partner if we moved I want to stay on the same estate if it were just to get a bigger house it feels like a lot to start again but like you say alone it was never a big deal. Children are so resilient and you have to trust that the decision was made for the right reasons. Adventure is ahead. It is exciting but I cry every time I watch that episode of Bluey so I am with you in this if only in spirit. Xx

Thanks Kylie-Ann. I’m sure once we’re exploring the new place it will feel more fun. We’re just in that awkward stage where I know each activity is probably “the last” time we’ll do it in our current city.
